Helping Small Businesses improve customer retention and acquisition by marketing with meaning.
Introduction

I run a Victoria BC SEO and Internet Marketing company called Meaningful Marketing. In doing so I help businesses make their website more visible online.

All my strategies revolve around getting prospective buyers to your website. It could be SEO, social media, a blog or Google Adwords. Whatever strategy I use, the key is to turn them into a lead and ultimately a long term client.

Visit my SEO Victoria website to see meaningful marketing examples and why you should aim to out care your competition.

Outside of marketing I love golf. I'm a former PGA of Canada member and I still blog about golf instruction over at Peerless Golf

Interesting thoughts on old forum links and what to do with them. #SEO

Long time lurker, first time poster.

I'm doing a link audit on a site, of the 500+ linking domains more than 300 are forums. 40% of these have keyword rich anchor text, the other 60% do not. Is it safe to say that I should just disavow all of these forums? None of them are, nor were active. And none of them have anything to do with what the client does.

I've never had to do a disavow before. What is the average turnaround time on seeing any type of results from it?

Your experience would be greatly appreciated!

Great summary from +Ryan Hanley about what to look for in 2014 from social and content marketing.

I especially like the idea of blogging more and using Facebook less. He also gives tells us about a simple yet powerful content marketing strategy that you should be doing right now.
After three days in San Diego, these are 8 trends I took away from Social Media Marketing World, the largest social media marketing conference in the world.

I was looking into why I'm getting outranked by a competitor for a big search term. Being an SEO myself, I wanted to see how this could be as it's an 8 page site on a two year old domain. Seems to have just had content put on back in October.

Very  curiously I go to ahrefs and I see 6 backlinks, all from one site.

The site is http://www.indiegogo.com/ and it's a high authority crowdfunding site.

I did a search for indiegogo backlink and came across this post and wanted to get your thoughts on this.

It's hard to believe people are still pulling stunts like this in 2014, and bragging about it publicly. I wouldn't want to within the same time zone as this guy on the next Penguin update.

Search terms for your Local SEO Business.

A few days ago I showed my website to a friend who works as a sales director for a local hotel. I wanted his input on my pricing packages.

He came back with some great ideas. But what got me thinking was the fact that he didn't know what "SEO" or "Search Engine Optimization" meant.

Having been a golf instructor for years I would try to make things simple for my clients. So that meant cutting out industry jargon and using more common and simple terms.

In the case of SEO, what about those out there searching for our service but they don't call it SEO when they search. What terms are they using instead?

I've tried to ask a few people lately and have gotten some interesting answers. I was wondering if you have as well.

I've created pages with titles like "Improve Google Ranking/Position" but haven't had any hits.

Anyways, I was wondering if anyone else has some feedback or if this interests them at all. I'm going to start asking anyone in business what terms they would search and see what I come up with.

I recently had a new client come on board. They needed a logo done up. I have known Doug and his work for some time so he was the first graphic designer I went to. The logo was great and my clients are happy. His attention to detail and ability to create clean logos is excellent. I look forward to working with him and his other services he offers.

Had breakfast here yesterday and the meal was great. It was busy but the service was slow. Many of the tables had been served already yet our breakfast took longer than expected.

This is one of the best settings for a course in the Pacific Northwest. It's like walking through a massive state park. There are some great holes out there and some average ones. Not a huge fan of the Arnold Palmer changes but it's still one of the better courses in Washington State. Played it if you can get on there.

Cool atmosphere and decor but everything is overpriced. It's the definition of a tourist trap.

The most underrated pub in Victoria. The menu is huge and everything I've had is top notch. Highly recommended!

I grew up in Qualicum and always enjoyed Fairwinds. I moved down to Victoria 13 years ago and hadn't played here since then. That was until last weekend. I was extremely impressed with the condition of the course. We played at 7:33 and the green fee was $33 (GolfNow). With that time the greens were so pure. The fairwarys will green but mowed fairly tight. I highly suggest playing here in your are in the area. And I consider myself a golf course snob having the privilege of belong to a private club down in Victoria.

As much as people think Cactus Club is all about hiring good looking young waitresses, they're missing the fact that this place always has consistent food. I've been here well over 20 times and not once have I had a below par meal.
